Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs!)

How do I move forward to find out if this service is a good fit for me?

FIRST STEP: ON THIS PAGE, schedule a free 15 min consult with our Intensive Therapy Admissions Team. This meeting will start the process of learning about your goals and determine if a therapeutic intensive may meet your unique needs. If both parties agree that this is a good fit, then coordination steps continue as described below. The following steps vary for families composed of just 2 adults (age 18+) and any children who may be directly involved (ages 10-17 y/o) due to the involvement of parents/guardians in arranging treatment for adolescents.

Adults only SECOND STEP: Complete a virtual 50 minute goal-setting session with the Clinical Family Specialist. Set-up services; i.e. coordination with any referring professionals, treatment planning, and assignment to best fitting counselor.

Adolescents involved SECOND STEP: Adolescents will also need to complete a virtual goal-setting session with your Clinical Family Specialist.

THIRD STEP: A 50-minute session in which the client virtually meets with the assigned therapist to do some anecdotal history gathering and a final review of the established treatment plan, finalize scheduling, and get treatment started!

FOURTH STEP & MOVING FORWARD: You will have an additional virtual session with your assigned therapist prior to coming on-site for the in-person therapeutic intensive.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not bill insurance providers for this service. However, under the Affordable Care Act, all insurance plans must cover mental health care. So, if you have health insurance, it should provide some coverage for mental health treatment. We will be considered an “out-of-network” provider, which means that your insurance company may reimburse you directly for a portion of the fees paid. And we have opted out of Medicare. Upon request, our billing department can provide you with documentation of the care received that you can submit to your insurance company. Our experience has been that most insurance companies do not reimburse a large portion of Intensive Therapy services. Please make an inquiry with your insurance company prior to contracting for services to find out whether they will reimburse multiple hours per day of treatment in an outpatient Therapy setting based in Utah.

What are the costs?

Prices include taxes, accommodations, materials, and preparation. Travel is expected to be arranged by the participants and those fees are not included. A 50% deposit is required to block out a calendar date. Intensive Therapy can be more cost effective in the long-term, as each hour can be used more efficiently. The cost for a 3-day Family Intensive is $8,200.

What are the Scheduling Options?

With a robust team of clinicians we will work to support the best possible schedule for everyone. Feel free to go to our page on this site that will tell you about our team of clinicians.

What types of tasks do I need to be able to participate in?

There will be lots of walking around on uneven ground, lifting items under 20 lbs, sitting on un-cushioned surfaces, being around fire, reaching above your head….etcAs part of the experience, you will each be given jobs to accomplish, tasks to complete, and roles to fulfill. These range from everyday tasks–cooking, cleaning up after meals, helping to clean up after an experiential initiative (i.e. move light-weight PVC pipe, gather camping chairs, etc)--to therapeutic, adventure, and experiential initiatives such as participating in games & initiatives, hiking, offering your perspective and insights, actively listening to others, etc.

Are there possibilities for accommodating physical limitations if needed?

As part of the intake process we will be asking the general Age & Weight of each person participating and if there are any preexisting health conditions. There are some outlying health concerns that would restrict participation in some activities that could be planned and knowing that ahead of time allows our team to cater to what will work for your entire family. This includes some mental health conditions as well.
